"DEC REVISING DAM SAFETY REGULATIONS"

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)
is in the process of revising its Dam Safety and Operation Regulations.
The planned revisions are "Meant to ensure that dam owners provide proper
operation, maintenance, inspection, repair and emergency planning."

Public hearings will be held in April and May, and the public comment
period will extend for 15 days beyond the last hearing date.

The NYSFOLA Board of Directors encourages every member on a lake
with a dam to read and comment on these proposed regulations.

"The NYSFOLA Board of Directors submitted comments to DEC on
a previous draft of these proposed regulations. Those comments
can be found here." The NYSFOLA Board will prepare additional
comments during the current public comment period on the
newly promulgated regulations.
